The New Big East Showdown

As mentioned earlier, there is a new Big East conference that is starting to play out. With Louisville losing to Syracuse last week, the two top dawgs in the Big East are West Virginia and Rutgers. A confident South Florida team is hoping to stir it up a little bit in conference competition. But we will see how talented South Florida is tonight.

Trying to make their first bid into a BCS bowl game, South Florida can show America what all the hype is about this team. They have already upset (former) #17 Auburn at their own stadium with a thrilling, but widely predicted, upset. South Florida will be facing #5 West Virginia tonight at 8 ET on ESPN 2. The showdown might turn out to be an instant classic if South Florida goes out there and proves to America, and the BCS computers, that they should be rolling with the big dogs. But if South Florida gets totally shut down by the tenacious West Virginia defense, the Big East is pretty much decided for in the favor of the Mountaineers. But watch out, because if Louisville runs the table from here on out, the Cardinals have a good chance of playing in January.
